Sustainable Development and Climate Change Education: Support for Learning and Teaching

Sustainable development and climate change have become global priorities. The "Learning & Teaching Expo 2023," co-organized by Education City and Bailey Communications HK, will take place from December 13 to 15 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. As a leading educational expo in the Asia-Pacific region, this year's event will highlight the latest trends in education, featuring seminars and demonstrations focused on environmental issues to keep the education community engaged with sustainability and climate change.

This year's theme is "Shaping Education for a World of Change." Distinguished international scholars, education experts from mainland China, and local educators will lead hundreds of keynote speeches, seminars, and public demonstrations. The seminars will cover various topics related to sustainable development education, including:

•   How to Implement SDG Education through STEM and Ecological Education

This session will explore how to enhance students’ understanding of society and different stakeholders using STEM and ecological learning, creating unique learning experiences that foster sustainable development thinking.

•    STREAM for Girls:Metaverse as a Tool Guiding Path to Explore SDGs

Students will engage with innovative technologies like VR and the metaverse to conduct practical activities in various virtual environments, enhancing their understanding of sustainable development issues.

•    From Classroom to Community Empowering Students to Drive Sustainable Change

This seminar will examine how to extend sustainability education beyond the classroom, integrating it into the curriculum and encouraging student-led initiatives.

Additionally, the expo will feature public demonstration lessons titled "21st Century Classroom" and "Innovation Classroom," drawing on real-world experiences from various schools to inspire teachers with new ideas. Topics include Urban Micro Climate Study with the Aid of GIS" , "Enchancing P4 Students Arcs Motivation in General Studies," presented by geography, STEAM, and IT teachers, showcasing how to combine science and innovative technologies to teach climate change and water resource topics.

Additionally, the expo will feature public demonstration lessons titled "21st Century Classroom" and "Innovative Classroom," drawing on real-world experiences from various schools to inspire teachers with new ideas. Topics include "Using Geographic Information Systems for Urban Microclimate Research" and "Enhancing Fourth Graders' Motivation to Learn About Water Resources through Science and Technology," presented by geography, STEAM, and IT teachers, showcasing how to combine science and innovative technologies to teach climate change and water resource topics.
