Digital Online Practice Tests and Learning Assessment Analysis

With the school year now over a month in, it’s important to systematically organize the knowledge we've gained and effectively use online tools to enhance our learning! Both students and educators can actively leverage these online resources to plan their learning and teaching processes.

This issue highlights the online assessment question bank launched by EdCity, which offers free assessment questions in Chinese Language, English Language, and Mathematics for students from Primary 1 to Secondary 3 (STAR). Another platform, developed in collaboration with the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority, provides an online question bank (OQB) for Secondary 4 to Secondary 6 students, featuring past public exam questions.

More Accurate and Comprehensive Learning Assessment

Combining these two online assessment question banks, the basic features include free practice questions, personalized assessments, automatic grading, and detailed learning report analysis.

Students from primary through junior secondary can familiarize themselves with different question types using the STAR platform. Teachers can provide targeted feedback for each student, organizing their performance into visual reports to adjust teaching effectiveness and pacing.

Senior secondary students can intensively practice various question types through the OQB online learning platform to prepare for public exams, with instant grading features that help them correct mistakes immediately. EdCity will host a seminar on October 30 titled CPD Series. This seminar will explore how to utilize the Diagnostic Feedback System and the online question bank (OQB) to strengthen "Assessment for Learning." Those interested can register online.

In-Depth Analysis for Different Skill Areas

To give teachers a clearer picture of their students' learning and understanding, the OQB’s Diagnostic Feedback System (DFS) and the Data-driven Assessment Enhancement Programme help analyze students’ abilities across various areas and compare them to the average performance levels of diploma candidates. This also offers teachers training on question-setting guided by subject experts.

The DFS primarily helps students and teachers check results in real-time and analyze student performance through an online system, generating comprehensive diagnostic reports to identify weaknesses in answering questions. This process improves accuracy and deepens knowledge. The Data-driven Assessment Enhancement Programme uses statistical and psychometric methods to analyze past exam questions, providing precise post-answer analysis reports for both students and teachers.
